diation in Canada was worse than Canadian officials ever let on,” Canada’s largest urban weekly, The Georgia Straight out of Vancouver, reported today.
“Public officials in Japan and Canada alike jumped straight into Chernobyl-style damage-control mode, dismissing any worries about impacts,” writes The Straight’s Alex Roslin.
The paper has obtained Canadian government data showing a monitoring station in Calgary detected an average of 8.18 Becquerels per liter of radioactive iodine-131 in rainwater last March. This “exceeded Canadian guidelines” according to the paper.

It is about time some one spoke out for Canada!!! Thank you James. My own Doctor told me it will never hit Ontario!!! Ya, right...
Since the Japan incident, no one even talks about what would happen to Canada! Since Day One nothing has been said about Canada. That makes me very angry, to say the least. Vancouver is very close to California. And there was talk of Vancouver - then Manitobia which is getting closer to Ontario. Now we hear about Calgary, Alberta! It is a damn shame that Canada is being or acting like the rest of the world in keeping there heads burird in the Sand over this whole insident. I've seen and read about keeping 'things' away from the people; But my own Country doing the same thing is discusting. At this very moment I am a very discussed Canadian. There is nothing we can do about it now. The innocient by-standers are left in a maze of confussion and no where to run or seek guidence.
Good Morning America and Canada: Radiation is here!!! And to stay!!!
