Ever noticed how many YouTube videos are being removed by YouTube for no apparent good reason other than politically motivated censorship?
Lets do something about that! Let us build a network that keeps re-uploading everything YouTube removes ;)
Special thanks to KLC for suggesting this group and for producing the original group logo :)
Re-Load videos to your own channel and show us your handy work, embed any reloads here in a comment, have fun dissidents! If you are unable to do this but have some suggested videos for reloading, please forward in a comment and I shall try to upload to my channel.
I have noticed for some time now many videos being removed by YouTube from channels in what is my opinion, for no legitimate reason. There certainly appears to be nothing objectionable in many of the files that are getting banned and removed. It would seem that YouTube, using the mask of copyright infringement, sees fit to censor any content that it pleases or is coerced into. I recently noticed that a couple of videos in my favorites had disappeared, "This video has been removed due to terms of use violation". Specifically there were two videos, both very short segments from the US Democratic Candidates Debate of 2007, featuring Senator Mike Gravel. I realize the segments are from an MSNBC broadcast, but these videos were available for viewing on YouTube for two years and then suddenly they violated terms of service.
I'm not suggesting that we steal anyone's creative original works and upload, linking to videos for full credit is the right thing to do. But when YouTube removes content for no good reason, let us show some dissent! A media corporation cannot demand that no one dare display a minute long excerpt from one of their broadcasts in the public domain, when it is done so in a totally not for profit manner and for educational purposes.
I now display the following on my YT channel: Fair Use Notice
This YouTube video channel utilizes video content that is copyright material, the use of which has not always been specifically authorized by the copyright owner. The display of and the materials in these videos have been re purposed in a manner which constitutes Fair Use as provided for in sections of US, UK and Australian Copyright Law. In accordance with those laws, these videos and the material contained within is distributed without profit for the purposes of education, research, news reporting and commenting.

Geofftop left a comment on my page -
"I was also thinking we need to find or code a tool that lets us download all the videos on a you tube channel. The take downs seem to be increasing and a lot of good stuff is being taken down. They especially like picking on the little guy."
Geoff, I have been using Firefox for years and it has just such an add-on tool - Download Helper, that is why I'm in a position to re-load videos from my collection. However I have noticed recently that many files I download from YouTube are damaged, they have started compressing files so much, or maybe they are deliberately sabotaging quality, so that downloading is not viable.
I suggest if you see a video on YouTube that you would like to download, do a google search to see if it is available any where else first. The search results from google include other networks such as vimeo and amazingly, files are usually very good quality from sources other than YT even though they also seem to stream better and quicker.
myspace is doing this too! I posted my vid F**K U Obama in myspace forums and it was taken down as "racist" anyone who has seen the video knows there isnt a racist element to it- so of course I uploaded it again and it was taken down again nearly 2 mins later- so I posted it agains this time with a nice little not asking myspace moderators why they hate freedom of speech so much among other things and they pulled the video again but this time left the thread and added a message to me-on the forum- saying if I posted again I would be banned from the forums-I posted again thanking myspace for their true American patriotism and I have since been banned from myspace forums. I can't even read content that other members post now. I posted the video here and on my ning network as well!

I've noticed that a good part of the video's that show Nazi Pelosi straight out using scare tactics as well as when she firmly inserts both feet, with shoes in her mouth, ALL HAVE DISAPPEARED.
You Tube is becoming more and more the tool of the government.

Wow, it's great to see so many new members, Welcome all!
Thanks James for your support and for 12.160 Media, I will begin some uploading.
Thanks for your suggestion illuminated-dj. I will send a message to Puppetgov to find out if they are happy for me to upload video to my channel. I have been endeavoring to get permission for uploading any videos produced by creative individuals as apposed to the videos that are minute snippets from corporate news media.
Regarding the comment threads by morris108 & Rivkah Cohen - Some good questions. I always try to locate original source of videos on YT and add them to my channel by adding them to favorites, then the owner gets all credits by the link. morris - a copyright notice in your name "all rights reserved" would mean no one is entitled to redistribute as apposed to allowing various permissions, see creative commons licenses
I would insert the notice in the first and last frames of video and also in video description on YT page. If you are really concerned about this issue, perhaps a watermark on all frames of your videos.

@rivkah
I am thrilled at anyone posting a video I make - providing they embed it from its place on YouTube.
