Abbas and Fayyad: Collaborationist Israeli Allies

Five days ahead of Abbas petitioning the UN for Palestinian statehood and full UN membership, it's important to know who's friend or foe.

Abbas and Fayyad never did represent Palestinians and don't now.

Both lack legitimacy. Israel rigged Abbas' January 2005 presidential victory. Moreover, his term expired in January 2009. Nonetheless, he's still in office because Israel and Washington want him there....

Palestinian U.N. bid teaches us about America

 

The case of Palestine's bid for U.N. membership is teaching us more about the United States than it is about the stubborn Middle East. Sadly, the United States, my country, heads the list of member nations making a mockery of the international venue founded to intervene in exactly the type of crisis now facing Palestinians and Israelis.

The Palestinian action is not really news. Far more newsworthy is how the United States and Israel have reacted -- with total hysteria.

Given that the anticipated substantive U.S. policy change regarding Palestine and Israel under Obama has not materialized, it would seem that strategic U.S. interests have again been hijacked by the Israel lobby.

Campaign to end military aid to Israel enters NY, underground

The Jerusalem Post is covering the 25 ads in the New York subway system from the "Be On Our Side" campaign, against military funding to Israel. Reporter Jordana Horn:

The 25 posters in 18 Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Bronx subway stations are part of a mass transit advertising campaign by Be On Our Side to remedy what the advertisements call “the flawed and skewed representation in mainstream media” of Israeli-Palestinian relations.

This is the seventh city in which these ads have been displayed. The posters have been approved by the city’s Metropolitan Transit Authority, and will be displayed for one month.

“Be on our side. We are on the side of peace and justice. End US military aid to Israel,” the advertisements state...
