Let me clarify my statement.  First, i loathe these words because we are no longer "Back in the day..." if someone did not like the wages paid by an employer, or like the way that employer treated his workers, or conducted HIS business, that someone was always free not to do business with that employer.  By what RIGHT does ANYONE have to force someone to the demands of the population?  That is NOT a republic form of government, that is a group (mob?  democracy?) STEALING from the employer.  We USED to call that EXTORTION.

As to my claim that the UNION killed the Twinkie, the UNION, over the years, demanded more and more.  And more.  Better healthcare, richer RETIREMENT packages (no one supplies the OWNER with retirement package, he has to set up his own).  I am NOT taking ANY blame FROM management, after all, they are the ones that caved to the Unions in the first place.  Let me explain...

I knew a man that started a lawn business.  He was the only one working in this business when his clientele list got to be a little much for one man to handle so he hired another.  And another.  And another.  After a short period, he was working three crews of five people each, and everyone was happy with the work done and the products used.  THEN someone noticed that the owner was making lots of money off their labor and demanded a piece of the pie.  When the owner pointed out that the workers had already agreed to a set hourly wage, the employee got his crew to stop working until their pay more properly matched the income of the ENTIRE company. even though the crew had no more work per hour than when the boss first hired crews.  After 'negotiating' raises for ALL the employees (all the crews caught on) the owner started LOSING money because he still had to pay all the taxes out of his share, and all the maintenance was paid for out of the owner's share.  The owner eventually had to close the business because he went broke.  The crews took the owner to court for not paying them a 'severance package' and won.  The "owner" is now destitute, the lawns look like no one has paid any attention to them, property values have decreased, and the crews are now unemployed...and they STILL blame the owner. 

SCREW unions.  Again, if you do not like the way i do business, don't do business with me.  But FORCING me to change MY ways through VIOLENCE of the threat thereof is CRIMINAL, so long as the original ways being forcibly changed are not harming anyone directly.  If my actions cause you to make stupid moves, and cause YOURSELF harm, well, that is on YOU, not me.  This is a basic tenant of a republic and a FREE MAN.

Obummer gave the keynote address at the 2004national democratic party convention, letting the freemasonic controllers of today's national democratic party boast and show off the next President of the United States 4 years down the road. Freemasons are loyal by oath to the queen of England,their "Grand Patron". Expect more decay of the republic and a return to English corporate slavery if you poopoo my words on this again. Communism is a tool of the Rothschild bank, and it always was. Trade unions are the best friend working people ever had on earth. Central banks are the worst enemy. Management and labor BOTH get caught up in the same ponzi scheme and things fall apart. Rumnuts and Obummer can both go to hell.

All the big Companies went into every country in the WORLD under false pretences,to create employment.Thanks Bill.As it turns out,after closing down all the real employers these Predators are  now looking to go 90% automated over the next 10 years.The supermarkets want you to serve yourself and they now have lorries that can drive themselves.

Big Companies are a MENACE TO SOCIETY.

Wow Daniel - that's a pretty low blow for the unions - is this some sort of revenge strategy, on your part, against unions?

I have to point out to you, that the news in the past few days, or of last week anyway, has more or less, come to a general consensus, that it was HOSTESS Management who dropped the ball, on their own toes at that, and that it is not the work of the union to blame.

"The crisis facing Hostess Brands, is the result of nearly a decade of financial and operational mismanagement, that resulted in two bankruptcies, mountains of debt, declining sales and, lost market share. The Wall Street investors, who took over the company after the last bankruptcy, attempted to resolve the mess, by attacking the company's most valuable asset - its workers."

In 1978 Dan White killed San Francisco‘s mayor George Moscone and city supervisor Harvey Milk.  The press labeled his defense the “Twinkie Defense” because he claimed eating sugary junk food – like Twinkies – caused diminished capacity.  Amazingly the jury bought it, and convicted him of manslaughter instead of murder saying he really wasn’t responsible for his own actions.  An outraged city rioted.

Nobody is rioting, but management’s claim that unions caused Hostess failure is just as outrageous.

I agree with you Nathan - its a double edged sword - Unions, like governments, can either, work really well, or, can also be corrupted and or owned, too.

Damned if you do and damned if you don't?

So then, we're faced with having to appoint "watchdogs" - but who'll watch the watchdogs eh?
