- The FBI says a Tucson man offered instructions on how to build bombs and actually built two bombs while confidential sources watched.
According to a federal Criminal Complaint, as early as December 2016 Ahmad Suhad Ahmad knew how to detonate a bomb by using a cell phone.
The complaint says at several dates between then and his late October arrest, Ahmad met with sources, talked of his bomb-making skills and offered to translate bomb instructions from Arabic.
The FBI Agent making the official complaint reported Ahmad said that he learned to make bombs during the war in Iraq.
The report says in April 2017, Ahmad traveled to Las Vegas, brought bomb building tools with him, and met with undercover agents who brought items from a list of bomb components Ahmad provided. It says Ahmad assembled two bombs in front of them and explained how to use them.
Ahmad was arrested in Tucson on October 26. The FBI is not commenting on the case.
Court documents do not explain why Ahmad was not arrested until almost two years after documents say he first offered to show how to build bombs.
