The documentary focused on the reign of Sinaloa kingpin Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, who was jailed last year. The men who captured Guzmán seemed disappointed that his arrest wasn’t Hollywood enough – rather than catching him on a yacht, nursing a Martini surrounded by bodyguards and beautiful women, they went to his seaside home while he was sleeping, and quietly handcuffed him.
Despite Guzmán now being in prison, the Sinaloa’s frightening dominance of the international cocaine and heroin market continues: they’re thought to have strongholds in 58 countries, and it’s estimated that they’re responsible for the deaths of 100,000 Mexicans.
