Apparently, the US military would prefer the officers in charge of its nukes not be the gambling sort. Over the weekend it emerged that Navy Vice Admiral Timothy Giardina, the second-in-command of the US nuclear arsenal, is the subject of an illegal gambling investigation into the use of counterfeit poker chips at an Iowa casino. Admiral Giardina, who has not been arrested or charged, was suspended from his duties on 3 September, officials said on Saturday.
The admiral, a highly decorated submariner, graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1979 and has been awarded the Navy Distinguished Service Medal, among several others, during his 34-year career. Before taking up his current post at the US Strategic Command in 2011, he was the deputy commander of the Navy’s Pacific Fleet.
The Iowa authorities reportedly launched an investigation of Admiral Giardina on 16 June, after being alerted to the possible use of counterfeit gambling chips in poker games at the Horseshoe Casino in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Robert Kehlerr, the Air Force General who heads Strategic Command, learned of the investigation a month later, and referred Giardina’s case to the US Naval Criminal Investigation Service. Special agent David Dales of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation told the Associated Press that the case involved “a significant monetary amount”.

I sense a little passive-aggressiveness here? Not sure why that would be....but for the record...my book has nothing to do with my experiences working for US DoD as an adult...
However,my book is about growing up in the small town that CBS News selected in 1968 as the "perfect American suburb"...and they did a documentary about it called "16 in Webster Groves"...which was supposed to be about "six-square miles of the American Dream"...
I grew up in Webster Groves... and my dad was a six-foot-nine-inch, 350lb, corrupt, racist, St. Louis City Cop...my Mom was a corrupt Court Clerk who embezzled thousands from the ticket fund...and my brother was a cop..who got caught counterfeiting $100 dollar bills and had to resign....in my book I include some of the corruption I was exposed to in Bosnia, Hungary Japan, Korea, Europe...etc...all around the empire...
...but my book is mostly about my dysfunctional childhood...and the inherent dysfunction we baby-boomers all share due to the parenting skills of the prior generation...oh, and I forgot to mention that I have worked within the corruption of the US DoD..and have sat in rooms where people openly plan to commit illegal acts....and to punish those who are not "patriotic enough"....so your comment seems a bit sarcastic to me, I hope you feel better soon....

Sorry...not buying any of it....why would one of the most distinguished members of the Armed Services... someone who has worked decades to achieve his position and authority....why would that person use counterfeit chips to gamble with?
Makes no sense.....!
However...if the Admiral refused to go along with Mr. Obama's illegal war-crimes...I can see why something like this would be trumped up...
...and for those who think your government would not stoop to such levels...take my word for it...as it happened to me for over two decades...set up for a potential DUI...accused of stealing...all kinds of trumped up crap...they are corrupt...and they have an agenda...and if you are in the way of the agenda... your life, your career..your family...none of it matters to the corrupt PTB in government... that is how it is..
