Conformity is a result of extensive and repetitive propaganda and indoctrination manipulating the people into submission of the will of the ruling glass. It is used as a part of a conflict building mechanism in that it binds a group of people, usually a nation or a block of nations, into a mass of obedient critiqueless sheeple.

Such separate masses of people with conflicting ideas and interests are built around the world and goaded into wars between each others. Wars are business where the warring countries loose or very seldom financially break even, but the arms suppliers and their financiers reap the profits pushing the nations into ever growing perpetual debt. The bigger the war the bigger the loot and the more people get killed. That is one form population control.

Nations are governed with a priciple of "end justifies the means", not by morals applied to the individual citizens. The strong nations fleece and loot the weak, history is written by the winners, any wrong doings and war crimes disappear with their victims and their memories. That is called the Realpolitik.
