I'm convinced that concrete work on I-96 a few years ago was nothing more than the installation of EMP devices -- stop one car and you stop all the ones behind it. Detroiters can be contained with minimal show of force.

Hollyweed/DTOM - couldn't agree more - am keeping my 2000 model Toyota.  Household appliances will also have listening bugs.

H, in total agreement with you. I think only Feds will be driving new cars, but I could see the PTB trying to mandate the boxes for ALL vehicles - unless the die rolls straight to go to SHTF scenario.

Watch to see if similar mandates are placed on cars in other nations as 2013 progresses.

Also agree with you regarding new vehicles. People you want a vehicle with no electronics or anything else that can be burnt out by EMP.  Ideally something where parts are always freely available, or can be repaired or fabricated easily

ironic that nobody will ever get a chance to drive one of these "Barry Busters"....2014 will be a year of broke fuchs and devastation, radiation and destruction...in other words I think we're fooked b4 this tech gets used, banks are gone in a couple months and a Nuke is hitting here somewhere before '14 is done (IMO)

Never will buy a "New" car, I believe 12-25 k for a plastic piece of chit is way too much, all vehicles to me have been plastic pieces of chit since 1980 (1st piece of plastic chit rolls out assembly line)..the Dodge "K" car.....auto's all went crap mode after that ;)
