The picture is of my new hero, I just recently read about her and was moved very deeply. Her name is Rigoberta Menchú. An poor peasant woman from Guatemala who watched her 'whole' family be brutally tortured and murdered (by military working on behalf of the elite) because they (and her village) opposed their tyrannical rule. Even after witnessing this brutality meant to demoralize others to continue fight, she NEVER SWAYED in her fight against injustice. Her story is amazing and serves as an example of the human spirit overcoming evil. So when things get tough, I will think of her courage, fearlessness, and power of conviction to keep me unswayed in the battle set before us.
