Everyone can rest assured he is a rescue.  All of my dogs have been rescues:  yellow Lab, Ausky (Australian Shepherd/Husky), Malamute, Australian Shepherd/New Foundland mix, 2 Samoyeds, Chow/New Foundland mix, St Bernard/Hound mix, Australian Shepherd and now my new boy.  Hey, I even rescued horses from slaughter - yes it happens.  I've rescued many unwanted cats too.

Is he a rescue dog? My ex and I once had a bulldog, 2 Scottish terriers, 1 Korjak, and an Australian Border  Setter, and 2 Shiatzus all at the same time. We eventually gave away one Scottish terrier the other died of cancer, both Shiatzus died, and that left the Bulldog and Australian Border Setter which looks a lot like a golden Lab. They're the only ones left that I know of aside form my former step son's cat. My ex has all the animals and I was left with none. You do end up missing them!

Sweettina2 Thank you so much. I know what you are saying. I have had other dogs come and go but this one took a part of my soul with her. I raised her from 4 weeks old for 13 years and we did everything together. I miss her so much. To this day a still can't even type a simple comment without breaking down. Ironically, I live on the same property as the manager of the local humane society and have known her for 40 years. I recently built and addition for them to house cats and do all of their maintenance and repairs. They are a part of my life, but it doesn't seem to help. I plan on going back to her final resting place when the snow melts this summer and giving it some closure and allowing it to release through meditation. It is the only thing I feel will work. She is buried on the slopes of sacred Mount Shasta. In memory of my beloved Bonnie

What a beautiful boy he is!! Aww, I'm so happy for you! I had a black lab...greatest, most loyal EVER!

I lost my Chihuahua/dachshund, Maggie May, the best, after 13 yrs. Born on September 11, 2001. I still have my wild Chihuahua, Molly. I would love to have another like Maggie, I'm closer to the end of life so it wouldn't be fair to the doggie. Nothing better than a dog!

@ dogitydog You should go to the nearest animal shelter, there's a baby there that needs you to love him. No labor of love is in vain. I grieved so badly over losing Maggie, thought I'd never get over it. One day, I guess in my head, I heard, "If God called you up and said, I've got a little dog, she's only gonna live 13 years, will you take her and love her?"....absolutely! Somehow that helped me. I believe she's in Heaven, I can't wait to see her again.

dogitydog  So sorry about your loss.  It takes time.  It's been a year since I lost my last boy.

OMG! He is awesome!

Do I dare ask? I am so afraid to. Still dealing with my own loss wondering if I will ever come to terms with it. Thank you so much for posting this Diana. You have brought tears to my eyes.
