Short of 'grey' weapons squirreled away from the EOKA and EOKA-B days, there are few privately owned firearms in the hands of Greek Cypriots.
Side by side and under/over config shotguns are pretty much the only thing available, subject to license, and ammo sales are recorded.
Also take into account that there is a British Military base on the Greek Cypriot side of the island and a UN presence (on the border with the Turkish occupied north).

Ok, this is the most ignorant story I've ever read here, Military service is compulsory in Cyprus and after that they are required to keep their military Rifles in the home, 36 out of every 100 citizens in Cyprus are fully armed.
