LP, Yep, that's what I've found to be true. Around the year 1900, the Rockefeller owned University of Chicago bought the Encyclopedia Britannica.

I cannot confirm this by any google or finecomb search as it's a kind of hush hush, but from my earlier research it seems that the Rockefellers bought Encyclopedia Britannica around year 1904. I'm not sure about the world book status. The older the better. 18 hundreds is still a safe bet.
