"She was raised in the GDR (Eastern Germany) under communist/socialist rule and became politically active there. There's a lot of reasonable speculation that the propaganda got to her, no matter what she says. The destruction of the "Klassenfeind" (class enemy) Western Germany was their declared goal for decades. Just saying, IF they got into her head, it would explain her doing everything she can to destroy the unified (under Western rule!) Germany. Her arch enemy won and swallowed "her" country, so now she's destroying the winner (including the rest of Europe who turned its back on communism as well)."
The German people may have surrendered for now, but things can change quickly. Germans are no fools.
