It is a WEAR TIP from an industrial tub grinder (mulch). Just Google: "wear tip from a tub grinder"

It's either a hoax, or there is some local construction happening. I would like to see images of the roof and the floor directly below the hole in the ceiling. The local media is hyping this way too much.

Looks like it might be an anti-flutter weight from an aircraft control surface, and if it is, be very careful because  they are sometimes made from depleted uranium, which is denser than the lead usually used for those components.

probably correct sir, either that or somebody went over that w/ a wire brush grinder & a blow torch...lol.....or could be a piece off Flight 800 (just took a while to come back down) ...w00t

too bad the letters/numbers are almost obliterated. Bet this mystery gets solved shortly, seems the junk from the sky always gets identified sooner or later..
