You can still be whatever you want to be. Just a matter of pulling yourself up by your bootstraps one more time (no matter what AOC thinks about that phrase, lol).
Never got to the "man" part before the world started stepping on me, but in answer to the post title question, I guess it's kind of like every super-villain and Clint Eastwood film backstory.
