The burqa has been banned in France as of today, April 11, 2011.  What do you think, should non-Muslim countries ban the burqa?

In France, women are now officially banned from wearing full-face veils in public, after a controversial law came into effect. While the government says the move is aimed at helping Muslims adapt to the local community, critics accuse President Sarkozee of persecuting Islam, to win back votes from the right. But in a country with Europe's biggest Muslim population, the law risks igniting social tensions, as Daniel Bushell reports.

The controversial 'burqa law' is set to come into force in France today (April 11). The new law imposes a fine of 150 euros on violators who can also be asked to carry out public service duty as a part of the punishment. France had passed the ban on full face veils last year. As per official estimates about 2000 women wear the veil in France which is home to Europe's largest Muslim population.

@LaserShadow - Libyan refugees are going to New Jersey. @26 min, Wayne Simmons tells Judge Nap that refugees will be flown to NJ under the State Dept. asylum initiative.  He also mentions how the most dangerous Somali gangs like MS-13 came to the US. (This is in addition to all the refugees pouring into Europe on boats)

@Nikki, solution:stop all immigration thats not someone with a college degree. Stop all exchange programs for education, it will drop college tuition and prevent people from getting in country falsely with visa like so many puppet terrorists.

lol James, somalins from the capital of anarchical pirate land ... no problem come on over! We've got lots of dumb Americans who won't be able to say shit without be labeled a racist.

You know i think you just revealed why women aren't allowed to drive in Saudi, they're made to wear those ridiculous things on their heads and can't see shit. Would be a good idea to ban the burka things when their driving at a minimum, I mean If i can't talk on my friggen phone with out worrying about thugs pulling me over.

@LaserShadow, I'm not going to jump on you, there are two sides to this, there are so many variables, and I haven't commented yet anyway.  Everyone has made valid points so far.  The invasion of Europe by Islam has been going on for centuries but how did this happen in the late 20th century, who is responsible and what is the solution?  Obviously pandering politicians are making matters worse. We have been discussing this here but no answers yet.

I'm going to abstain about the burqa issue and just say the muslims generally do not integrate themselves into a society. If you look at many of the clerics speeches that have gotten translated and posted on youtube. You will see that they are being told by these clerics to move into various countrys, convert as many as possible, have as many children in that country as possible and get politically active in changing the laws more towards Sharia law. Islam as interpreted by a large potion of muslims is really a fascistic form of government. Geert Wilders is on a Crusade admittedly against Islam but much of what he's saying can be backed up and is the truth. I'm a man of truth period when I see it right in front of me no matter how much i don't like it I have to accept it.

I can sympathize with the Europeans on the muslim issue because I'm the same way with the mexican La Raza. Now I have zero problem with mexicans documented or undocumented THAT WANT TO BE AN AMERICAN!! I have a very big problem with these clowns bringing in their mexican flag marching around saying screw America you stole land from us bullshit. We don't have the muslims in force here as they do over there. http://www.prophecynewswatch.com/2011/January24/2462.html check that article out. This burqa law wasn't created out of malice or racism IMHO but out of concern that their country was being invaded ... Invaded as in masses of people who do not want to be french, do not like french custom or want to be a part of it and would try to change it. It's not just that they have no reason to be in those countrys but they begin to lobby to CHANGE that country. Read that article I posted before you jump on me.

@Not Happy with USA...well, Maria got you on that one.  I've been to topless beaches in France (but not full nude ones) and I can verify what she says.  The French as well as the vacationing Brits, Germans, etc are all fine with it but the Americans or either drooling or fainting but generally being embarrassing in their reaction to uncovered boobs.

Re your Indian neighbors, their traditional clothing is way cool and has no religious significance.  I live in an area where there are lots of Indians.  I notice that they wear regular American clothes to work but wear their traditional clothes for family functions, weddings, parties, etc., and sometimes at home on the weekend.  Saris (women's garment) are so colorful and elegant that it's not unusual to see non-Indian women wearing them these days.  In fact, my daughter and I are planning to make our own saris this summer.  And if your old enough you might remember that the Nehru jacket was all the rage back in the 70s. A cute movie you might want to watch with your granddaughter is Bend it Like Beckham (if she's old enough) it's rated PG-13.  It's about an Indian girl in England who is obsessed with playing soccer.  And you'll learn a lot about Indian culture, clothing and food - really interesting.
