Something to think about...The Case of Trayvon Martin

By: Justin Horne

March 29 2012

In recent days, we have seen a firestorm of media attention, over the Emmit Till of our generation, Trayvon Martin. Trayvon Martin, 17, was killed February 26 as he walked to his father’s fiancee’s house in Sanford, Florida, after a trip to the convenience store. Martin was shot by George Zimmerman(overzealous sociopath ), a neighborhood watch volunteer who says he was acting in self-defense. Martin was unarmed, carrying a bag of Skittles candy and an iced tea. Zimmerman argues that he should be pardoned on the basis of the Stand Your Ground law, which gives people wide latitude to use deadly force rather than retreat during a fight, regardless of whether the action takes place in one’s home or on the street. In wake of this, some states are considering abolishing or amending the Stand Your Ground law, which originates from the Castle Doctrine(circa 1628) that appropriates a person's home as a place in which the resident has certain protections and liberties and may in some instances attack an intruder without becoming subject to prosecution. U.S. Rep. Alcee Hastings said: "This misguided law does not make our streets safer, rather it turns our streets into a showdown at the OK Corral. But this is not the Wild West. We are supposed to be a civilized society. Let Trayvon’s death not be for naught. If Rahm Emmanuels prophetic phrase "You never let a serious crisis go to waste"is true than his death will not be--not in the way the parents would hope. Before we let this situation be one of disparate attitudes among people...lets examine the clandestine agenda being instituted!

I think most would agree that this has been the most highly publicized murder of a black youth in sometime. The media brouhaha over his death dispels the myth that the media is sympathetic to the plight of minorities being slaughtered due to the misfeasance of law enforcement.Take Kenneth Chamerblain for example.Kenneth Chamberlain, Sr., a 68-year-old African-American Marine veteran, was fatally shot in November by White Plains, NY, police who responded to a false alarm from his medical alert pendant. The officers broke down Chamberlain’s door, tasered him, and then shot him dead. Audio of the entire incident was recorded by the medical alert device in Chamberlain’s apartment. Where is his justice?  Does anybody remember Danroy Henry? Danroy Henry, 20, of Easton, a junior at Pace University in New York, was shot and killed by police outside a bar in Pleasantville, N.Y. early on Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010. Police said they fired on Henry’s car when he drove at them, but Henry’s friends and family say he was trying to move his car out of a fire lane, and the shooting wasn’t justified. Lets examine another case of an unjustified shooting: The murder of Ramarley Graham. Ramarley Graham(an unarmed Bronx 18 year old) entered his grandmother's home with police hot on his trail. Cops state they witnessed Graham conduct a drug deal and thought he had a gun. The cops impeded on his rights by entering his home without a warrant.Inside the home Graham went into the bathroom, where its suspected that he may have been trying to flush cannabis down the toilet, when Officer Richard Haste--now on restrictive duty(not arrested or fired) while Internal affairs investigates the incident--fired one shot and killed the teen.Graham did not have a gun. Wait...there's more! Kenneth Harding,19, of San Francisco was shot 10 times in the back and neck by police and left for dead after running from them for not paying a train fare. He was left to die on the street as seen in this video:Viewer discretion is advised. All these unwarranted killings share the same theme as opposed to the Trayvon Martin case...underreported. The only thing that these three cases have in conjunction with Trayvon Martin is that the victims are all black. Trayvon Martin's untimely death  is derived from the platitudes about black and latino youth during the peak years of the War on Drugs. The curiosity and concord you see from the mainstream media is nothing than a dissimilation for the eradication of the second amendment.

Last week, the Children’s Defense Fund released their Protect Children, Not Guns 2012 . Here are some of there findings:

. 5,740 children and teens died from gunfire in the U.S. from 2008 and 2009

            . 3, 892(68%) were homicide

            2,320 (60%) were black

. The leading cause of death among black teens age of 15-19 in 2008 and 2009 was gun violence.

What one should be keen to is how the War on Drugs affects these statistics. I am sure everyone has heard of this war. Its where Uncle Sam ships drugs into the country, makes laws that render using and trafficking narcotics illegal (laws at which they are allowed to break apparently), and then they send  these wanton "lawbreakers" to prison to do more labor for the scum that shipped the shit in the country in the first place. A practice of duplicity that has been a $1 trillion dollars failure with over a hundred thousand lives lost. Now, is it possible that a lot of these homicides are analogous to the War on Drugs? Absolutely!  About two-thirds of arrest for drug-related offenses end in a conviction for the accused and about two-thirds of those convictions will serve time in jail or prison for their offenses. Black men represent only a third of drug arrests but almost half of drug felony convictions. Of these about 71 percent received jail or prison sentences as compared to 63 percent of convicted white drug offenders.. The stigma created by the War on Drugs is that burghal latino and black youth who adorn themselves in hoodies, drive expensive cars, or wear exorbitantly priced sneakers are involved in some type of illegal activity--illegal for the people and not the government. This is the profile that is habitual in every" hood movie", every crime fighting based reality show(think Cops, First 48, America's Most Wanted), and every mainstream news network(pick one). Geraldo Rivera extrapolated recently in his articulate bigotry that, "If you dress like a hoodlum eventually some schmuck is going to take you at your word." Wrong! On November 15, 1996, there was a town meeting in Los Angeles on allegations of CIA involvement in drug trafficking. Former Los Angeles Police Narcotics Detective Mike Ruppert seized the opportunity to confront then CIA Director John Deutch. At this town meeting, he disclosed a then hidden(well that is if you have never heard of Iran Contra) fact that the CIA has been dealing drugs in the great ol' U.S.A. for quite a long time--predominately in the inner-cities. If you deliver narcotics to a lumpenproliteriat community, then inculcate the public to believe that every trendy clothed  black and latino adolescent is responsible for the plague of death that is War on Drugs, of course every naive policeman, news reporter, and regular Joe Public will deem this claim credible. Trayvon's death is as much a case of demoicide as it is homocide.

From its inception,The Black Panther Party were known for there militancy. The faction was often demonized for chanting mantra's such as  "The Revolution has co-ome, it's time to pick up the gu-un. Off the pigs!", displaying bawdy behavior(brandishing firearms) and venting their frustrations for the mistreatment of the Oakland populace. The Police Patrols had become a vital part of BPP community policy. Members of the BPP would receive police calls on a short wave radio, and make haste to the site of the arrest with law books in hand and educate the person being arrested of their constitutional rights, but were careful to stand no closer than ten feet from the arrest so as not to interfere with the arrest. Of course, this hellion behavior had to cease! On May 2, 1967, the California Assembly Committee on Criminal Procedure was scheduled to meet to discuss what was known as the "Mulford Act", which would prohibit public displays of loaded firearms. The group entered the assembly-- armed-- to object the passage of the act, which was largely unsuccessful as arrests followed. The bill was ultimately signed by then California Governor Ronald Regan. In an interview to air on "Face the Nation" on Sunday, Joe Biden hints at new stipulations to the second amendment. He states, ""It's important that people be put in a position where their Second Amendment rights are protected, but that they also don't, as a consequence of the laws, unintendedly[sic] put themselves in harm's way," Using the archaic practice called disguised jingoism--better known as war mongering-- as an example, only the government puts the people in  harm's way--I can write a book on situations where this has happened.  Think about all the egregious murders that have occurred in  states such as Missouri, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, and Michigan(the states with the highest black homicide rates), and ruminate on why this one occurrence has been highlighted as one of importance? They are using Trayvon Martin as the poster child for creating universal gun control laws. David Rockefeller in his nihilistic grandeur states, "All we need is the proper event and people we accept the new world order." This is that perfect event! This homicide has all the cacophonous issues of the day intertwined: racial profiling, racial divide,  the homicide rate of black teens in crime ridden neighborhoods, gun ownership, gun laws, police brutality, reasonable or unreasonable suspicion, etc. While the public argues about who was right wrong or indifference, the government tries push new obliquitous legislation; made specifically for control and not for regulation.

Let's not get things misconstrued, I do lament for the family of Trayvon Martin, but I do realize a charade when I see one. I feel immense disdain when I see Trayvon's family being used for political and social gain of others: The New Black Panthers whom have issued a $100,000 bounty for the head of Zimmerman, Al Sharpton is calling for the acceleration of protests as he speaks on behalf of the Martin Family, and more often than not, when we see Jessee Jackson involved in a cause its about racial divide.  Do not let the mainstream media stupefy you to have a parochial idea of this catastrophe. The establishment and media whores sympathy for the plight of minorities is always ephemeral. Smiling faces tell lies!  Resist the prevarication!

        Peace,
