According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Colorado District, more than 500 agents and officers from local, state and federal law enforcement agencies came together to pull off the biggest drug bust in state history on Thursday. Here are the details.
* The Drug Enforcement Administration's Denver Field Division Special Agent in Charge, Barbra M. Roach, stated the arrests resulted in an organizational disruption of a major cocaine trafficking network between Tijuana, Mexico; Los Angeles; and Denver.
* According to Michael A. Holt, special agent in charge of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations in Denver, the bust began as multiple investigations from various agencies involving money laundering, bulk cash smuggling, gang involvement, transporting and smuggling illegal drugs.
* 80 people were arrested following four separate investigations conducted by the Metro Gang Task Force, the Denver Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force's Strike Force, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations and the North Metro Task Force. 97 defendants have been charged in federal or state courts, the U.S. Attorney's Office said, as a result of seven separate indictments handed down by a federal grand jury in Denver.
* In all, more than 40 agencies worked together on the investigations, including local police forces from places such Adams County, Aurora, Brighton, Broomfield, Castle Rock and Northglenn, along with federal agencies such as the Office of International Affairs and the Internal Revenue Service's Criminal Investigation unit. The Colorado National Guard also participated.
