Things just aren’t the way they’re supposed to be

An oppressive government targeting you and me

You might have thought you were free

Freedom is just not the government’s cup of tea,

Somehow it all got out of control

Society has fallen into a black hole

Men and women are playing the wrong roles

The insanity is taking its toll,

Wish I had something hopeful to say

Is there any place left to get away?

But I won’t give up come what may

Deep in the night sometimes I pray,

The pendulum has swung too far to the left

It’s only brought corruption and theft

For far too long I’ve been bereft

Carrying this weight I can no longer heft,

Is there a politician who has a soul?

All the lies of the opinion polls

The evil ones with their materialistic goals

Snipers in the grassy knoll,

Put me in a spacecraft and send me into space

I’m already living in a lifeless place

All my life has been a pointless chase

Just one step ahead of a dying race,

I reached out to you thinking you were the one

That you could be one honest lover under the sun

Maybe I’d forgotten how to have fun

From too often being under the gun,

It seems that somehow time is running out

Can’t wake up the sheep even if you shout

Just a little fentanyl just a small amount

They’re dropping like flies and I’ve lost count.
