After months of ignoring the issue, Congress is taking up the war in Afghanistan today. In fact, members are debating RIGHT NOW on whether to end the war, and bring the troops home.1
This bill, introduced by Rep. Dennis Kucinich, doesn't look like it will have the votes to pass.2 But it's just the opening argument of a huge fight in Congress to end the war. And ultimately, the success or failure of that fight will depend on how many of us are willing to call, write, email and march in protest until everyone comes home.
We need to show Congress that we're paying attention, and counting on them to do everything they can to end this disastrous conflict. Email your Representative right now and tell them you oppose the war in Afghanistan:

Our best chance to end the war may actually come when the funding is debated later this spring. But today's vote has impact as well.
If members see that we're paying attention each and every time that they vote on the war, then we've got a better chance of convincing them to do the right thing. Without public pressure, it's too easy for Congress to fall back on old arguments about 'supporting the troops' and 'giving Obama's strategy time to work'.
The truth is, we're out of time. Over 1,000 soldiers have already been killed in the Afghan war.3 Not to mention thousands more civilians and Afghan police and army members who have been caught in the crossfire.
It's time to end this war, not debate it. But we can only do that with your help. Tell Congress - Stop debating and end the war now.
