Age of Uncertainty

Slipping back into the dream from which I came

Everything in the universe will still remain the same

A celestial chorus of forgetfulness will bring rain

Only the bottom of a wine glass numbs me of the pain,

Whatever wisdom exists seems to erode on this planet

If salvation was available why would humanity countermand it?

This is not how an omnipotent being would have planned it

All of the charlatans just had to have canned it,

The clash of opposing dimensions seems to have occurred

The lines of right and wrong seem to have blurred

The time it takes to forgive and forget always deferred

Like the words of a drunken soothsayer that become absurd,

Crashing through the icy rings of Saturn

Most people rarely connect the dots or see the pattern

Life’s unfair, no one escapes without being burned

The fortunes of fate often turn,

What is that arc of light coming from the clouds?

Reducing the cities to flaming shrouds

These forbidden secrets to which we’re not allowed

Far from the delusional madding crowds,

A neon deity haunts the unholy night

Disguised as a savior leading you away from the light

Just as the propagandizing sound bytes

Our leaders portray assassins as noble knights,

Just as a rogue government steals justice from the masses

Much too late now for instructional classes

Too many want to see reality through rose colored glasses

Waiting for the an age of uncertainty that passes,

The slippage of time assured by mental fragility

As if lying on the lunar dust at the sea of tranquility

I fear that I’ve lost all sense of humility

Is there not a shred of decency left in humanity?

All aboard for the hell bound train

Existing in the ether of this astroplane

I’m afraid the words of the prophets have been rendered in vain

We have a reality now that can no longer be sustained,

In the throes of death still thrashing

The end right before your eyes as it’s flashing

Too late for God to give you a tongue lashing

The man you betrayed when at first you said he was so dashing.
