The music takes me away from being left behind

Of happier and better times

The melody when tasteful and refined

Takes me to another place where the sun shined,

There’s something in the atmosphere

What it is seems unclear

Conspiracies and fear

Authorities who are insincere,

Disregard the drivel on the news

They want you to accept their point of view

They’ll tell you the sky isn’t blue

Disinformation for the masses by a chosen few,

They dwell within their ivory towers

Wielding their illegal powers

Toxic contrails and flooding showers

In these desperate hours,

Ann had a bad case of the blues

Perhaps it was the pills that she used

She felt abused

The megalomaniacs were amused,

What’s the point of existence today?

When facts and truth are so far away

The honest ones just stay away

As the sky fades to gray,

Watching government full of clowns

 Who elected them to run our towns?

While citizens wear their frowns

Controversy has its ups and downs,

The lone gunman seems to have a job

Planned shootings to make hearts throb

Until there’s no one left to rob

The widows will emit their sobs,

Lord knows it wasn’t meant to be this way

All sense of justice has gone astray

We exist in a constant state of dismay

While the Demons are at play,

Ann lost all desire to go on

Became a spirit just before dawn

I can still hear her whisper on the lawn

But, now she’s gone.
