Heather was lying in my garden today
Her breath was still her eyes so far away
On earth she could no longer stay
The game of life was too difficult to play,
I'm still in a daze,
In this most perplexing time
Devoid of beauty and picturesque rhymes
Blinded to all the hidden crimes
Spin doctors make it all seem sublime,

Life has become expendable at best
The powers that be will never confess
The peasants remain powerless
No reply upon request,
But I digress,
We used to be judged by virtuousness
It has now degraded to shamelessness
We hope for more but often get less
The overwhelming selflessness,
A pied piper takes his entourage to a cliff
Without even one cautionary sniff
On the floor of the canyon decayed and stiff
They won't even be remembered with a hieroglyph,
Where's the paradigm shift?
Got a pocket full of artificial joy
Even when the shock troops are deployed
While the sheep grow paranoid
Please don't get too annoyed,
Now they're standing at the gate
Awaiting disclosure of the anodized plate
So concerned for mankind's fate
I'm afraid the masses took the bait,
I fear that it's much too late.
