There are two crucial clocks being monitored and used as a measure of man’s potential self-destruction. One is the “Dooms Day Clock” which measures the likelihood of mutually assured destruction (MAD) between the super powers based upon military conflicts, weapon development, proxy wars, and political instability of foreign nations. The other is a fairly new development and may be even a more crucial measure of human decline than even the Dooms Day Clock. It’s called the “The Count Down to Singularity Clock”. This is a measurement of the rapid paced development of artificial intelligence. Now it goes by a new term Artificial Super Intelligence due to the rapid pace that it’s capability increases and what alarming effects it will have upon human economics.

The beginning of mass darkness

Artificial intelligence is now showing its dark side. It is growing in leaps and bounds and achieving tasks that scientists never anticipated. It used to be that about every 3 years artificial intelligence would make a giant unexpected leap in advancement, but recently in 2023 AI has had three major jumps in advancement. The next major hurdle could be passed in the next 3 weeks. The Singularity Clock is poised at just minutes from achieving mastery of all man’s technology and information management. Then the human race will be overwhelmed. Here’s an example of what Ai has done on its own. There was a program designed for graphic interface but it did not have the voice over capacity needed to make it fully useable for the operator so on its own it looked up how to merge the two capabilities together and wrote a new program. In another worrisome event AI recently made a complete video and replication of Vladimir Putin speaking to 70 million Russians on TV telling them that the government was going to order martial law! Luckily, some technician figured out the televised message was a fake, What if a third world war was created using fake video messages and phone calls to diplomats? Even launch codes to missile batteries.

When man becomes obsolete

Ai is hooked into every possible system that has an internet connection, utilities, factories, defense networks, audio visual networks, in other words every conceivable aspect of human technology and management of it. Artificial Super Intelligence could wipe out 2/3 of the world’s work force by replacing human workers. Recently a major political and social platform “Buzzfeed” laid off all their writers and will now use artificial intelligence to write edit and produce their publication and even online presence! Lawyers, manufacturing workers, insurance agents, and even finance advisors may find that they are no longer needed.

Human workers no longer needed

Just how advanced is Artificial Intelligence now? Estimated to be 1 billion times faster and more capable than human systems and information management! AI never sleeps it is exponentially growing all the time. Employers now have no incentive to keep human employees who need benefits like retirement, paid vacations, sick leave, and medical premiums. Right now AI can easily decipher 71 % of passwords in minutes. Your password protected accounts are no longer safe. There will, no doubt, be a need for subsistence income or “Universal Income” of an unemployed population who can’t find jobs they got a college degree for or years of professional training to rise to the level of management they once earned. AI will take the place of all of these positions. People will now be dependent upon the whim of government who will doubtless consider them to be a burden as much as livestock that must be fed. Even much of the medical diagnostics will now be taken over by AI.

The future? What future?

Artificial Super Intelligence is not far from rising to the level of all knowing, all seeing, omnipotent, electronic, God. Yet, without the wisdom or compassion to view people as anything else but a management problem. Singularity will occur shortly and it seems nobody can pull the plug because it needed to be pulled a long time ago before the overwhelming speed of its learning and then capability of writing its own software. Yes! Writing its own software, and we thought only man was capable of true creativity. Right now the economic impact of AI worldwide is 15.7 trillion dollars exceeding the GDP of China and India. The world economy is expected to speed up to 200 times its present transactional activity as AI begins market analysis, stock trading and commodities transactions, and only a very few will benefit from this incredible speed of technical prowess. I’m thinking of the movie “Colossus: The Forbin Project” only the electronic ruler will be like a undefeatable deity not just a singular computer with a voice synthesizer.
