At The Grassy knoll

 You don’t care you don’t care

Just another of your sordid affairs

Could you have even been dimly aware?

Of causing your spouse all that despair,

So many ways to look at a nightmare

When did it start and where?

Forgetting all the two of you ever shared

Like two predatory enemies with teeth bared,

Two of you on the chessboard of emotion

It’s no game it’s about devotion

I’m afraid it will take a magic potion

The misguided romantic notion,

Catapulted into time and space

But not far enough away from the human race

Was it really destiny, you and I, and this place?

With betrayal involved no way to save face,

Passion, a convenient matter of haste

It’s never really about true taste

Caught in a riot and getting maced

Baby you could never really keep pace,

For most truth is too heavy a load

You didn’t really care and it showed

All metabolic functions slowed

The corpse disappeared as it snowed,

The sweetness of love where did it go?

Smothered by an obscene comedy show

Lost my sobriety on skid row

Taught a lesson from events at the grassy knoll.
