Bungled My Life
I bungled my life in the service of others
Betrayed by those I helped my sisters and brothers
Told by those I loved that I smothered
It’s a wonder I recovered,
I bungled my life thinking I did what was right
No arms to hold me tight
At times there was no hope in sight
Nothing changes when you’re high as a kite,
I bungled my life but I wouldn’t change a thing
Can’t even find my old wedding ring
Don’t even remember all those tears that sting
Living by the grace of God without any strings,
I bungled my life
In the midst of all this strife
Memories that cut like a knife
Bungled my life trying to hang onto a wife,
Bungling my life I can’t take back
Just trying to operate in the black
Enjoying an occasional snack
Staying a step ahead of the wolf pack,
When finally I’m done
From being under the gun
Just let my spirit run
Bungling your life is really no fun.
