By Your Own Hand
My little boy my little boy
You grew up to be a man
But things didn't quite go as you planned
You took your life by your own hand,
I'm left alone here on this hollow land
This bleak and shifting sand
Seems from my own family I've been banned
Forgive me if I don't understand,
My son was a gentle giant
Tender he was and self reliant
But his wife was an insane client
Hateful, insecure, and defiant,
My little boy driven to beyond all hope
Little did I know he was at the end of his rope
For some kind of explanation I still grope
But he was floundering on a slippery slope,
It's funny how life remains
But it seems to leave a human stain
Watching the color from your face drain
The legacy of the ball and chain,
No way I can recall you from the grave
In life we always end up somehow enslaved
Somehow we are deprived of what we crave
If only you could have been saved.
