You'll Never Know
I thought I meant something to you
A true love that was gentle and true
In a chaotic world that doesn't have a clue
Only sad memories now all askew,
Like rain drops falling on my door
Just like tears that hit the floor
Look at them flooding along the shore
You had me but you wanted more,
Love is like a beautiful book
But you'll never know if you don't look
Few ever think of all that they took
Having all the ingredients but unable to cook,
With all this pain I turned to God
But to my own family it seems too odd
Some people need a lightning rod
Not realizing they'll end up beneath the sod,
Humbled by the mistakes I've made
Just like the very bed in which I layed
So many dreams that began to fade
Too bad baby you should have stayed,
Only the forgiven can move ahead
In a violent world of flying lead
So much love cast away instead
So many live in sorrow and dread,
I thought I meant something to you
A true love that was gentle and true
In a chaotic world that doesn't have a clue
Only sad memories now all askew.
