For years California has been forced to endure water mismanagement for the sake of environmental obsessions and the need for agricultural production as well as having water stand by in case of wildfire fighting. Some of the most tragic fires have occurred in recent years as a result of conservationists with their insane refusal to mitigate fallen timber in the forests that was traditionally cleared by crews so as not to provide even more tinder for potential blazes. Water shortages due to fresh water rivers being diverted toward the Pacific ocean accounts for another source of trouble for crop growers, fire fighters, and the general public in need of drinking water. All to save a dying species of fish named "Smelts".

When the old saying goes that whatever happens in California becomes the future for the rest of America is a very grim prediction as the resources of California have been squandered over land management concerns that make it impossible for new plants to be constructed thus driving businesses away! California is a dreadful example of just how over regulation and over taxation can ruin a paradise, make it more hazardous, and run the middle class out of the state leaving only the wealthy and the illegal immigrants and impoverished to scavenge what's left. When government is allowed to carry out environmental obsessions with unaccountable bureaucrats who want to force their legacy down the throats of the public you get a California! 

The progressive rock group "Spirit" a band that never got the accolades or fame they deserved. Whose concerts were attended by such British musicians as Led Zeppelin, King Crimson, and Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull, as they performed in San Francisco, they were respected by their own peers. in the song "The Great Canyon Fire in General" the band describes to well known and feared fire dangers that all Californians are familiar with and have been for decades!
