Christmas A Piece of Me
It's that time of year when they say Merry Christmas on this day
Haunted by those memories since you've gone away
It just doesn't seem like the time of year
To look backwards and shed a tear,
But it's Christmas time again Baby
Excuse me if my eyes get a little hazy
But you won't be around anyway to see
Holiday tears are just a piece of me,
I guess it's time for the eggnog
Maybe light the fireplace and a yule log
And just forget about the world for a while
Wish I could give you a Santa's smile,
On the streets there's a quiet bed of snow
I've thought about falling in it don't you know
Perhaps just fly above it like a black crow
Sometimes we're embittered by the seeds that we sow,
But it's Christmas time again Baby
Excuse me if my eyes get a little hazy
But you won't be around anyway to see
Holiday tears are just a piece of me,
I should be happy that there's a savior
No matter how many mistakes I incur
But like a fool I'm never quite sure
Perhaps that final threshold will be the cure,
As Mom and Dad laugh while wrapping presents
And another year is almost past tense
A decorated tree seems heaven sent
But being alone leaves less joyous sentiments,
But it's Christmas time again Baby
Excuse me if my eyes get a little hazy
But you won't be around anyway to see
Holiday tears are just a piece of me.
