It's Christmas Day
All about a savior with too high a price to pay
Tell me why I feel this way?
"Merry," is that what you say?

It's that time of year
When there's supposed to be season's cheer
That time when the TV tells you to shed a tear
Let's all act like there's nothing to fear,

Visions of a horse's sleigh
You just have to rise above the maylay
Snipers are out of ammo time to play
Seems like the sky turned a windswept gray,

I remember when we used to spend Christmas together
How stupid of me to think forever
Should I think of such thoughts, no never
Might as well reflect on the weather,

All the illusions I had as a child
The world seeming innocent and mild
Forgive me if I seem a bit trifled
You and your number, sorry I misdialed,

All those presents and Christmas trees
Feeling myself fall to my knees
What evil dieties must I appease
The son of God will be fine if you please,

Remembering the thrills of being a little boy
The wonder of getting some new toy
No, this is not a novel by Tolstoy
I now live in a modern day Troy,

The jig is up my jolly friends
How many more Christmas's until we reach the end?
Dived down to the Edmond Fitzgerald and got the bends
All ghosts have a message to send,

In the backwoods reality is sliding
There's an unknown species in the shadows hiding
Managed to take some film footage while riding
The true outcome of history they'll be hiding,

Somehow I missed the joy of this holiday
When knights slew dragons in ancient days
When fighter pilots made the enemy pay
When kindred spirits had the humility to pray,

We're caught in this illusionary maze
Sorry, it's not just a passing phase
Frozen corpses glisten with an icy glaze
And you wonder why I wear this troubled gaze?

Nowhere else to go on this Christmas Day
Thinking of a home and family where I stayed
Come on out Santa and let's play!
