Damage Control

Lost in the spell of shimmering emotions
The grandeur of frail notions
Swimming through paradoxical oceans
I was seduced by intoxicating potions,

Sweeping the cobwebs of memories
Those recollections that hurt and tease
She left me with such ease
Like a fool all I wanted to do was please,

Enlightenment at what cost
Sometimes I fear that all is lost
Perhaps too many boundaries crossed
What mood would she be in-a coin toss,

Gone forever these trysts of passion
Your face has become ashen
Just like the meaninglessness of fashion
The apocalypse is here break out the rations,

This monument to myself I built in vain
In the midst of a world gone insane
Somewhere I chose to get off the train
Bound by those invisible chains,

Take me Lord beyond the shadows of vanity
All of those useless frailties
On earth so much needless calamity
Where is that non-existent chastity?

Headed for unknown horizons
Unexplored dreams from where I've come
Greater minds have come undone
As humanity we are all as one,

Oh the noble intentions that paved that road
Those aspirations that collapsed under the load
Of expectations unrealized destined to explode
Now I operate in damage control mode.
