The Most Precious Gift
You'll never know what you might find
When you're dealing with a bruised mind,
She and I thought we weren't getting what we deserved
So she left while she was still well preserved,
Funny how we wonder at the mysteries of fate
While the creator refuses to reveal an illuminated state
Trying to unlock that riddle drives some insane
Driven that way in a world of pain,
Beginning life as pure as the driven snow
Before the travesty of the world could bestow,
Whatever happened to the law of absolutes?
Overshadowed by the emperors in their finery and tailored suits,
Whatever happened to decency and mere trust?
Gone like the wind in a sudden gust,
Forgive me for being a bit fatalistic
Unfortunately, in this world we must be realistic,
Love is a gift more precious than gold
But, it is more squandered than can ever be foretold.
