To a New Start
Divorce, the modern day eventuality of course
One party jilted while the other’s getting love from a new source
Resulting in one half’s broken heart
While the other was monkey branching to a new start,
Like throwing fresh garbage in a can
The one that leaves stuck to her plan,
“Should have seen this coming,” one laments
While the other who strayed makes no comment
Though the Lord advises us to repent
There’s no shortage of marital discontent,
Forgotten are the words, “to give is to receive”
Perhaps for some marriages there could be a reprieve
While the lawyers have another agenda up their sleeve
In the end is happiness ever achieved?
However, this is life in the modern day
Love, life, and memories, so easily thrown away
Doesn’t matter that you begged her to stay
In this darkened world we all need to pray,
Mona Lisa on Santa’s sleigh
The December night is dark and gray
You’ve awoken from a dream as she ran away
The one who leaves is the one who pays,
Like throwing fresh garbage in a can
The one that leaves stuck to her plan.
