Dancing Alone In the Dark
Most of my life I’ve been fishing in the wrong spot
Like one of the General’s men bleeding on a cot
Still wondering if I’m alive or not
Do they ever realize the despair they’ve brought?
Terrible to be alone, oh my how you’ve grown
What kind of poison seeds have I sown?
All those momentary pleasures that I’ve outgrown
Like riding a chariot full of brimstone,
In your closet I hear the rattle of bones
Thought I could even here all those sinful moans
All those expedient murders using drones
Redirecting air traffic around “No fly” zones,
My Darling the nightmares of the past
Tell me how long will true love ever last?
The good that never seems to outlast
The storm’s coming, better secure the mast,
Now I’m just dancing alone in the dark
Personal tragedies leave their mark
Marriages break up over cruel remarks
The Zeppelin blew up with a spark,
She wanted to be queen for a day
Suddenly her world went astray
The perfect model on public display
Now she’s in a state of decay,
Blood stained history just turn the page
Clueless actors on the global stage
Snuffed out over a case of road rage
People don’t know when to disengage.
