Day Freedom Died

It seems like life has passed me by
Oh Lord was I always living a lie?
Was I always trying to deny?
Was I looking for some Pie in the Sky?

Now that I've grown older
Life seems to have grown a lot colder
God, I used to be so much bolder
I hated those who bought and sold her,

Now it seems I've come undone
And the war that should have been won
Now seems to weigh a ton
Now it seems a lot harder to have fun,

Staring into the setting sun
Knowing time waits for no one
Still somehow I'm on the run
Seems I've always been under the gun,

Oh sweet angel of light
When will you visit me some night?
Take away my ultimate plight
And try to restore my insight,

My God what did you let the world come to?
Is this cynicism I'm seeing through?
This troubled planet seems to be blue
Even now the truth is apparent to so few,

This ship of fools we all ride
Floating on blood along the seaside
Seems all the wise men have died
I've already witnessed the day freedom died.
