Like Hail Stones
It seems like she was the last song I would ever sing
The last time I would ever share a spring
She was more than just some frivolous fling
We can't always see what life will bring,
She was difficult to live with but I loved her anyway
Little did I know she didn't want me to stay
Continually reminding me of life's one act play
Just like the cold empty bed in which I lay,
They say when you cry you cry alone
And when you laugh the world calls you its own
Today there are too many fools who sit on a throne
I came to find out like a bird she had flown,
You broke my heart and still you tried to ruin me
A message in a bottle floating out to sea
That is me playing in a fool's jamboree
Living this way isn't my cup of tea.
You lied about what went on between you and I
When I heard you it felt like hail stones hit me from the sky
The court room is where you lose all ties
A battleground where you roll the dice,
To have loved and to have lost
Seems to have happened at a terrible cost
But it beats a life of being bullied and bossed
Even when the warmth in her heart turns to frost.
