There is beauty in pain
Because the world we live in is insane
Like trying to find warmth in cold rain
Evil we celebrate and the good we disdain,
Yet we keep on telling ourselves we should
By the graves of soldiers we've stood
A testament to the delusions of selfhood
The truth we thought we understood,
This world given to us by the creator
Yet we chose to be decived by an evil orator
I still remember songs for a tailor
It was upon the USS Arizona I was once a sailor,
Incinerated in seconds and forgotten by most
The fools hoist their glasses in a toast
A world conquered and divided that will roast
Fools never awake as they sun themselves along the coast,
The pusuit of pleasure will always beckon
Those who break hearts who will someday have to reckon
With the atonement for the pain they have dealt
Never realizing life is as short as a candle as it melts,
A world gone insane where beauty is pain
Stealing another man's wife when I should have abstained
Paying the price when nothing was gained
The foolish heart that can never be contained.
