If used in a product, MSG must be listed on the label. But if the product was made with another ingredient that already had MSG in it, the label need not have MSG listed.
If that isn’t deceiving enough for those of us that suffer from eating things with MSG in them, MSG can go by a myriad of aliases such as:

* Glutacyl
* RL-50
* Hydrolyzed vegetable protein
* Hydrolyzed plant protein
* Natural Flavorings
* Flavorings
* Accent
* Ajinomoto
* Zest
* Vetsin
Hydrolized Vegetable Protein and Natural Flavorings are in everything.
The only sure way to avoid MSG is to purchase raw, unprocessed foods and prepare them yourself.

Yeah, it's addictive too.
I remember when I was growing up Accent was the big thing. We put it on everything too. Now I'm almost afraid to eat. Almost.

Haha, I was raised on "Aginomoto".thats what they call it MSG japan. The Aginomoto corp. is the largest producer of msg and Aspartame in the world....We had big shaker cans of that shit growing up, Mom put it in EVERYTHING. hey, its low in "salt" ..lol... Even after the concensus was that MSG was bad news, she continued to use the stuff, not knowing it was pure MSG, it was Aginomoto...I guess this info was never really reported in the mainstream . Hell, I remember almost every commercial break on Japanese TV has an ad for an Aginomoto product.
