Eyes as Dark as Coals
When I think of you and I
I often stop to wonder why
Funny how opportunities crawl or sneak by
Like the denial of the those tears we cry,
Telling ourselves there are new chances just around the bend
That our hearts will soon be on the mend
Just have to latch onto the latest trend
Hoping someone will hear these signals I send!
In the great scheme of things not necessarily so
Evil are those forgotten memories that flow
Broken hearts that never seem to grow
Discerning the fragmented past from Dead Sea Scrolls,
Everyday living takes its toll
So many have already lost their souls
As if they were devoured by black holes
Some of them with eyes as dark as coals,
“Didn’t know what I was getting into,”
That famous excuse for having no clue
The illusions we are forced to see through
Dear Lord I wish I knew,
Is everyone really that expendable?
Whatever happened to just being dependable?
Thankful I had a mother and father who were unbendable
These days hard to find anyone who is credible,
I’m just now on target and moving into range
The world around me has gotten a little strange
Who wouldn’t agree the world needs to be rearranged?
It’s quite a thing when you’ve been estranged,
I can remember a time when things were clearer
When everyone wasn’t busy looking in the mirror
Today there’s this sense that the end is getting nearer
There are those unreasonable expectations I can’t deliver,
Wish I could believe what I hear today
With all their intentional lies I don’t know what to say
Salvation seems so far away
I’ll never again beg anyone to stay,
Surrounded by hostile minds
Easily leaving us behind
There’s no mercy in their eyes you might find
Where are the wheels of justice that slowly grind?
"Destroying the New World Order"
