From Where I Came
Easy to let the world put you down
Easy to let the world steal your crown
Easy to let the world make you feel like a clown
Easy to be deceived by what’s beneath that silk gown,
You get knocked down and get up again
How do you keep doing it times ten?
Threw it all away for a little fox named Gwen
Who was the real fool then?
Another one took me on a ride
Thought I could let a few things slide
Didn’t see the signs thanks to my pride
That’s when my Bi-polar queen and I did collide,
Thought I could make it with my set of drums
Played with a few live bands when the evening comes
Groupies, players, and conundrums,
Stayed away from playing at bars in the slums,
Tried my hand at playing Mister Businessman
Wrestling matches with the corporate clans
The professional way to present your plans
Rug burns on my knees instead of my pants,
Wasn’t on what you would call a righteous path
Hell hath no fury as a woman’s wrath
Never found too much solace in a bubble bath
How many failed marriages? Just do the math,
Never intended for things to work out that way
You might say I’ve seen better days
Seems like life has become an amusing maze
Been smitten too many times by the abandonment craze,
I might be the last Dude you’d ever ask for advice
Dealt with indiscretions and vice
Wouldn’t you know it-I paid the price!
Would settle for just one girl trustworthy and nice,
But, life has a way of playing games
All those temptations of the flesh and fame
When it’s all over you’re never the same
Just trying to remember from where I came.
