VILLA RICA, Ga. — Girl Scout leaders say their members feared they would be hauled off to jail after a police officer told them to quit selling Girl Scout cookies because they needed a permit.
The Girl Scouts had set up a stand at a Villa Rica strip mall on Wednesday when the officer asked troop members if they had a peddler’s permit.
Troop Leader Kathy Crook said she was stunned, and disturbed at the reaction of the younger Daisies in the group. She said the younger girls thought they would all be taken to jail.
The Scouts were told to pack up the cookies, Crook said, and “the customers that were there had to just be turned away.”
Wow......who would have ever thought that Girl Scouts would ever have to worry about selling their cookies? The cop that dealt with these girls must have been a complete and utter arse to frighten them this much. He asked them if they had a peddler's permit.....give me a break? Obviously, he had nothing better to do with his time than harass these innocent girls. He's just another bully with a badge.
