MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The Alabama Republican Party has become the biggest contributor to Gov. Bob Riley's political action committee that is fighting electronic bingo legislation.
Riley's new campaign finance report for his GOVPAC shows it has raised $158,000 since mid-February.
Of that, $93,000 came from the Alabama Republican Party. Party Chairman Mike Hubbard says Riley raised the money for the party, and then the party contributed to GOVPAC. GOVPAC reported giving $154,000 to Citizens for a Better Alabama, which is running ads to fight electronic bingo legislation.
