(MISSION HILLS, Calif.) - Jack Herer, 70-year old noted author and leader in the worldwide hemp/cannabis movement was laid to rest at 1:00 pm April 25th, at Eden Memorial Park in Mission Hills, CA.

The ceremony was open to the public and attended by hundreds of family, friends, followers and others that wished to pay their respects to the most well-known hemp activist in the world to date. Jack began his campaign to end prohibition in the early 70's, and made a commitment to bring his vision to fruition.

Jack Herer was an instrumental force in the movement to de-criminalize cannabis, and believed completely that "Hemp can save the world!" He shouted his message from the rooftops, the mountaintops, anywhere he could find an audience.

Jack Herer did, in fact, change the world.

He introduced the documented benefits of the age-old medicinal herb, the history of its uses going back 5,000 years and the laws that prevent people from using it. His book, The Emperor Wears No Clothes, is considered the "Bible of Hemp" to thousands around the world.

He was a passionate man with strong convictions, all of which were described in some detail by his son Dan Herer and others, bringing the congregation to laughter and applause many times.

Here are some photos of the historical event by Dexter Phoenix. A full report including video is forthcoming.
