How Many Times?

You were always putting me down
Putting me down putting me down
I was the fool without a crown
Constantly hearing that sound,

Of you putting me down putting me down
Making me wish I could never be found
Putting me down putting me down
Transforming this fool into a clown,

You know the answer can never be found
Without mutual respect or common ground
They always hunted you like a hound
Because they knew you were fooling around,

I just couldn’t get it through my head
It seemed deep inside that you were dead
Seemed it was like intimacy you dread
How many times was I cut and bled?

Life was on a razor’s edge
Standing on a thirty story ledge
I still remember when I took the pledge
To have to hold until the body’s cold,

An acid tongue and fiery temper
Ripping the clothes right off the emperor
Casting him into the churning sea
You got what you want now you’re free.
