How Many Times Must you Bleed?
When I was first touched by you
I hoped it would be something true
Like I could reach out and touch a sky of blue
It was more than you being something new,
Expectations turn to glass
Like a solid celestial mass
Hopefully those sorrows will pass
Lay me down in a bed of grass,
Abandonment is pain
Human nature is insane
Always over something you can gain
All efforts seem to be in vain,
Forever adrift in this emerald sea
Allowing the trees to breath for me
Things that will never set you free
Life is an unpredictable odyssey,
I can sense the tears in the air
I can feel your hurt and despair
The way you run your hands through your hair
As if no one will ever be there,
The answers you seek seem so far away
Like begging an estranged lover to stay
What’s that that you say?
All humanity has gone astray,
How many times must you bleed?
It’s a fool’s paradise indeed
All these barbaric fools should never breed
It’s everywhere that I witness this greed.
