I went to Best Buy and bought an HD radio tuner, no not that big like a home tuner, just something you can plug in a small pair of headphones and it was around $50. And right now the market and economy for HD radio is mediocre. The big commercial broadcasters are just playing music without waking up people, I mean the programming sounds like Muzak, Music Choice, or satellite radio. There are no DJ's behind the mixers, and its like they are just playing music that is it. HD-2, and HD-3 sounds like radio stations in a cable TV format nothing else. One of the stations that was a Comedy station on HD-2 will one day start losing money cause they are not advertising, and we the listener will have to pay to listen to that channel if ads are not in place. The FM band is becoming another internet, we must try to save it. Stations are going to be leaving and will be digital IBOC FM only.
What bugs me about this, is that What would happen if the economy implodes, and the radio stations are losing money, I mean stations you like to listen to normally on FM and AM. They will have no choice but to do live programming, we will not be able to afford
commercial-free radio programming such as HD-2 and HD-3 programming, someone
has to pay for it. This programming sounds like cable TV digital cable radio. I think what HD radio is, is a radio testing ground for just to get more listeners to buy their radios, and then after they get alot of people, they will drop the hammer and make listeners PAY for the crap we are hearing on HD-2, and 3.
I just want everyone to know that I know what HD radio is, since I heard it, and it might or might not be a pretty good audio picture. The big bulky tuners that people are buying if the economy or inflation goes up, will be come cable TV digital converter boxes for your very own stereo system and it's going to cost you if advertisement does not come into place. So is digital free antenna television. The Elite wants you to pay for entertainment according to the latest observations of HD radio listening. Right now I am listening to a
station that is just playing nothing but music, and there is already way for the radio station to lock listeners out and have to shell out money to pay for the programming. If we do not wake up and keep radio free.
