If Only I Could Feel Christmas Cheer
Took a walk on cold, dark, streets to search for a silent night
Then the rain came pouring as if to add to my plight
No children came a calling no loved ones to invite
Trying to find solace in the neighbor’s decoration lights,
Where was my Savior on his birthday?
I felt like the world had gone astray
Remembering when my children laughed and played
Trying to count my blessings so I didn’t feel so dismayed,
That night seemed so incredibly strange
When sounds of Santa’s sleigh bells were out of range
How I wished that my heart would change
Recalling a wife who is now estranged,
I thought that I’d feel Christmas cheer
When I used to have family and friends so near
Can’t hide the emptiness with smoke and mirrors
Can’t numb the feeling over a few beers,
The streets were empty as I walked alone
Where was the Yule Tide Cheer in this forbidden zone?
A man without love and on his own
In an indifferent world with a heart of stone,
Where is a child’s delight in the midst of Noel?
The candle lit beauty and the magic Christmas spell
Good luck to all of you and I will wish you farewell
Leaving all of you to your own personal hell.
