Recently a movie came out of Hollywood starring called “Goodnight and Good Luck” in the movie actor David Strathairn plays the role of Edward R. Murrow, a well-known journalist during the 1940’s and 50’s. The movie was written, not based upon actual documentary evidence of how this veteran reporter took down Senator Joseph McCarthy and his Communist witch hunt as Hollywood called it. Of course, anything with George Clooney involved is going to decidedly a leftist spin as we will see as we examine the atmosphere that existed in 1953.
A race to oblivion
The Russians were in an arms race as well as the “Cold War” with the US by the time World War II had ended. They had spies at Los Alamos as our scientists worked on creating the first Atomic Bomb. The Russians were there during the Roswell Crash where it is suspected that an alien disk was recovered by the 509th Bomb Group at Roswell Army Air Field. Not long after World War II ended in the aftermath of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic blasts that forced Japan into finally surrendering, the Soviets were soon to detonate their first atomic device by 1949.
The very real threat
Even though the United States once again took a technological leap forward and developed the hydrogen bomb soon afterward the Soviets tested their own, and it was because the Russians were deeply embedded in top secret US projects, yet as Senator Joseph McCarthy saw this as a serious problem and knew that there were a lot of civilians who sympathized with Communism, Hollywood used its considerable influence to leverage public opinion against Senator McCarthy. Despite the fact that the spy ring that was discovered including Julius and Ethel Rosenberg both members of the Communist Party, Hollywood and reporters such as Edward R. Murrow, commenced a campaign of ridicule upon Senator Joseph McCarthy depicting him as a merciless, vengeful, witch hunter so delusional that he saw Communists everywhere!
Hollywood aiding and abetting the enemy
One might recall that this kind of dismissive attitude toward the Russian Communists was displayed during the release of another so called comedy movie “The Russians are Coming the Russians Are Coming” which came out at a time when the Vietnam War was escalating and Russia was supplying North Vietnam with SAM’s (Surface to air missiles) which cost many pilots lives along with their aircraft. Funny how even in the most desperate of times of war and national security crises, Hollywood persists in minimizing the threat and actually denounces the existence of very real enemies of our nation. As well, Hanoi Jane Fonda, another example of Hollywood’s zest for our ideological enemies, posed with North Vietcong guards at a POW camp and when an American Air Force pilot passed off a note to Fonda she promptly turned over to the Communist guards. American prisoners of war at the camp were beaten and at least once US Air Force officer was executed as a result of Jan Fonda’s photo op.
A trend that succeeds even today
Getting back to the movie “Goodnight and Good Luck” David Strathairn’s character, Edward R. Murrow manages to lead an anti-campaign against Senator McCarthy eventually discrediting him and giving Hollywood the win it desired against public sentiment that not only Communism was evil, but that a large community of Communist Party members in Hollywood, in American workers unions, in New York, and well organized by the likes of Sal Alinsky, an author who marveled at the way the Mafia intimidated people, were all harmless and nothing to be worried about! All this while young men in US armed forces were losing their lives in the Korean War against, not only, the North Koreans, but Communist China. I find it very disturbing that while America faces enemies committed to ending our way of life Hollywood continually finds ways to make it all seem like a big joke as I recall how much the movie “Doctor Strangelove” is touted as being such an incredible comedy and how Peter Sellers is credited with being such a masterful, comedic, character actor while the movie makes fun of US Strategic Air Command and the very real possibility that an accidental nuclear exchange might have happened between the US and the Soviet Union.
Summation
Today while our traitorous US mass media ignores acts of treason carried out by the Democrats and constantly attacks anything or anyone conservative, Christian, or patriotic, we will often hear a phrase that is synonymous with extremism whenever the press is making their typical allegations and that is “McCarthyism” still used today with enduring recall decades after the Senator’s untimely confrontation with Communism alive and well in America. That term has even been applied to people pointing out the radical Muslim threat in the wake of so many acts of terrorism that occurred during the Obama Administration, yet the government, at every opportunity attempted to keep the word “terrorism” from being used or associated with Islam, Jihad, and Muslim radicals. As has been pointed out in detail by such people as former KGB Agent, Yuri Bezmenov, just how insidious the sources of propaganda could be, Hollywood has played a disturbing part in that process.
